A high-level competition
The jury was composed by a panel of sensory experts. New in this edition, Olivar Foundation has defined a new approach to quality awards of extra virgin olive oil, providing them with a global character, considering the international expansion of consumption and cultivation, and the development of one of the last projects collected Strategic Plan of the province of Jaen.

The new edition of the International Awards Expoliva has been open to all countries producing virgin olive oil from the two major growing areas such as the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere. In addition considering the production capacity of the various mills and producers, the quality awards are structured in two modes: Quality Awards' Increased Production’ for batches of higher oil 10.000 liters and 'Limited production’ for batches of oil lower this volume.
The 151 oils submitted to the contest belong to ten oil producing regions (Andalusia, Catalonia, Castilla la Mancha, Castilla y León, Valencian Community, Madrid's community, Estremadura, Canary Islands, Murcia and Navarre) already 19 Spanish provinces (Jaen, Córdoba, Sevilla, Malaga, Granada, Almería, Huelva, Albacete, Cáceres, Badajoz, Barcelona, Las Palmas, Tarragona, Navarra, Madrid, Real city, Alicante, Valencia and Murcia). further, It should be noted that samples have been received from other countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Italia, Portugal and Uruguay.
Oils selected from those submitted to the contest, They will form part of the exhibition VII International Exhibition of Extra Virgin Expoliva, to be held in parallel to the Expoliva Fair.
